Ordering Your Personal Stationery

Prantl is delighted to present its substantial online catalogue of fine stationery and accessoires. You can personalise the broad range of samples to your individual requirements using our wide selection of typefaces and ink colours. We hope our diverse examples will inspire you whilst you are creating your own unique bespoke stationery. The procedure of your online order is as follows:

  1. 1. Please choose your preferred product
  2. 2. If applicable, please configure your product (See Configuration of products)
  3. 3. Please choose your desired amount and other options (like printed envelopes etc.)
  4. 4. Click ADD TO BASKET
  5. 5. Once you are ready, please click CHECKOUT to place your order

Configuring Your Stationery

You can design your stationery on your computer using our online configurator. Should you want to place an order from a tablet or smartphone, please refer to our help guide Ordering from a tablet or smartphone. Otherwise the procedure is as follows:

  1. 1. Go to your preferred product.
  2. 2. Choose your preferred amount.
  3. 3. Choose your preferred paper or card.
  4. 4. If your stationery includes envelopes, choose if you would like these printed on (surcharge of €95) or not.
  5. 5. Let us know any remarks or alterations that you might have (i.e. use of own logo).
  6. 6. Click on EDIT DESIGN to configure your product or to change an already configured product.

Prantl Stationery Configurator

In the pop-up window that opens, on the right hand side you can choose the individual pages of the product, the print colour(s) and a motive, if applicable.

In the actual product window, you can click on the different text blocks and change the text inside. You can also change the font, the size and the spacing of the text. Clicking on ‘UPDATE & SAVE’ will save your changes.

Some products offer the possibility to upload a photo. Please bear in mind that the quality of the photo needs to be high resolution for printing, and should be at least 300 dpi. We will check your photos and will let you know should there be a problem with your photo.

Once you have finished configuring your product, you can save it by either clicking on SAVE TO WISHLIST and continue to edit it later, or click on ADD TO BASKET. Clicking on CANCEL will result in the loss of your configuration.

You can edit your product from the Wishlist at a later stage, or save it and edit and order it later.

We will send you a PDF with your proof within one working day of your order. You can then tell us of any changes that you would like. We will never print unless we have your OK.

Your own Design, Logo etc.

Should you want to use your own logo or motif with your stationery, please state this in your order (in the box ‘Remarks’) and send us your logo by email to, quoting your order number.

Please make sure that your logo has a high resolution of at least 300 dpi. Your logo will always be printed in the colour that you have chosen for your product.

Your Proofs

After you have placed an order, your stationery will be checked thoroughly by our professional typesetters in Munich. We will email you a proof of your stationery within one working day (as a PDF). These proofs might include typesetting and layout changes and/or corrections. Should you require further corrections, you can inform us and we will send you a new proof. This process will continue until you are perfectly happy with your stationery, at which point we ask for your print approval. We will never print anything without your approval! Please note that this correction service by Prantl does not replace a complete editorial.

We kindly ask for your understanding that the production and delivery times are based on the time of your print approval. Should you be in a hurry with your order, we kindly ask for an immediate check of your proof and your print approval, so that we can start to print as soon as possible. Ordering from a Tablet or Smartphone

Unfortunately our configurator does not yet work on smartphones or tablets. You can nevertheless still place an order. After we receive your order, we will send you an email to inquire about your desired design (fonts and colours) and configuration.

Based on this information, our typesetting team will create your proof, which we will email to you as a PDF. You then have the possibility to inform us of any changes. Once we receive your print approval we will start with the actual printing of your product.

Production Times

The normal production time of your stationery, starting with your print approval, is 5 to 10 working days. There are a few exceptions:

Birth announcements with ribbons: 10 to 15 working days
Engraved stationery (no die available): 10 to 15 working days
Engraved stationery (die available): 7 to 12 working days

Bavarian Summer School Holidays:
During the Bavarian summer school holidays the production times can be marginally longer.

Christmas Holidays (24th December - 6th January):
Our printing office is closed between the 24th December and 6th January. Any orders that reach us during this time will be processed from 7th January.

Fine Paper & Cards

We offer a range of fine paper and cards for your personal stationery. Our Brilliant White and Vellum White paper are both excellent quality writing sheets and cards which offer both good opacity and a reassuring stiffness. We offer our papers in different weights ranging from 260gsm up to 430gsm (litho only). Dependent on weight and light-reflection our Vellum White papers can vary slightly in colour shade dependent on its weight.

The matching Brilliant White and Vellum White card is ideally suited for use as a correspondence card and for invitations. Both cards offer a smooth surface with superior writing characteristics and a reassuring "snap".

Please note that colourful stationery retains its original colour where there is no print. The back of a card is therefor perfectly suited for handwritten additions. As with all colourful stationery, we recommend using a fine silver, gold or white permanent marker. You can see the weight of your stationery including envelopes in the Postal Charges section.

Choice of Ink Colours

Shown below are our ink colours, in addition to black, from which you can choose. With most of our bespoke stationery you can choose any of these colours, but for some items we have reduced the choice to the optimal selection.

All our ink colours are compatible with laser and inkjet printers. The colours shown below are purely indicative, as computer screens are not able to depict these accurately. The strength of the colour will vary with your choice of typeface, as finer and shaded typefaces will appear lighter than solid ones.

Our Printing Methods

Flat Printing

Flat Printing

For all our flat printed products, we use either offset lithography or digital printing. Offset lithography is mostly used for single colour stationery which can be procured in larger quantities, such as business cards, correspondence cards, writing paper and envelopes. Lithography is based on the chemical principle that oil and water repel one another. Lithographic plates have an ink -receptive coating which is activated only on the image area. To prevent ink from invading the non-image area these areas are coated with water. The image is transferred from the inked plate to a rubber blanket and it is the blanket,rather than the plate, that comes into contact with the paper and actually prints the image. the image offsets from plate to blanket, the offsets again from blanket to paper.It is for this reason that the technique is sometimes simply referred to as 'offset printing'. For digital printing we use only high-quality Indigo Printing presses. Unlike the offset print, there are no films and no printing plates made. The printing press is directly connected to our Graphic computers, which feeds the final image to the press. Digital print is a 4 colour printing method and is especially suited for smaller quantities (less than 100), as well as multicoloured products.

Copperplate and Steel Engraving

Engarved Stationery

The fascination of engraved stationery lies in the creation of the individual printing tool, the die or the plate. To create an engraved print an image has first to be engraved onto a thin copper plate. This can be achieved by etching the design or by hand tooling it but in both cases the image is cut into the plate, rather than raised above the plate surface as in letterpress. Nowadays most plates are etched from the computer generated artwork but some hand tooling is often still required on etched plates to capture fine details or rout out larger areas. Once the plate has been engraved its surface is inked and then wiped clean leaving the engravings full of ink. The press then forces paper into the inked recesses and thereby transfers the image onto the surface of the paper by creating an impression. The image is raised from the surface of the paper perceptibly to both the eye and to the touch. The area immediately behind the image carries some bruising and feels slightly indented and this indicates to the discerning viewer that the item has been engraved.
In our online shop, steel plates/dies are allowed to contain a maximum of 100 characters and no logos or graphic designs. If you require more characters or other designs, please contact our Munich store.

You can pay with Mastercard, Visa or American Express. Your transactions are safely and securely processed through a secure SSL-connection directly to the issuing institute.

What is PayPal? PayPal acts like a digital wallet where you can securely store all your payment options, such as your bank account and credit card. When you want to make a payment, you don't have to pull out your credit card or type your billing info every time. Simply click on the PayPal checkout button, log in to your PayPal account or register, and select your preferred payment method. Advance payment via transaction
We welcome your payment via a traditional transaction. Should you choose this method of payment, we will email you our banking details after having received your order. When handling the transaction, please do not forget to quote your order number, that you received in your order email. Please note that we can only send you a proof of your product ince we have registered payment.

VAT Returns

If you order from outside the EU, the VAT will be reimbursed to you once your order is posted. This is only applies if your stated billing and delivery address are both outside the EU. Should one of these addresses be inside the EU, we unfortunately cannot reimburse the VAT.

Packing & Postage

Our national and international delivery is handled by DHL and other reputable logistics companies.
Please note that the prices below are only valid for online orders. Orders placed in our shop in Munich and our printing office are handled differently.

Delivery within Germany:

Standard Delivery (approx. 1 to 3 business days) = € 9.90 incl. VAT

Express Delivery (1 business Day) = € 19.90 incl. VAT

For orders that need to reach you quickly, we recommend Express Delivery. Our logistics companies such as DHL guarantee one business day delivery for this service. Any orders sent on a Friday will be delivered the following Monday. Standard Delivery does not guarantee a fixed delivery time of 1 to 3 working days.

Delivery within EU and Europe:

Standard Delivery (approx. 3 to 7 business days) = € 19,00 incl. VAT

Express Delivery (approx. 1 to 3 business days) = € 85,00 incl. VAT

We take no responsibility for any customs charges or any other surcharges that may arise in the destination country.

If both the billing address and delivery address are outside the EU, German VAT will not be charged on your order.

When you receive a discount code click on the link in the email. If you do not already have an account with us, you will be able to sign up. After you have a placed a product in your shopping basket, you will be able to enter your discount-code in the requested field and your grand total will be amended accordingly.
